Alcohol-related traffic accidents

The younger people start to drink alcohol, the greater the risk of their sooner or later being involved in an alcohol-related traffic accident. This emerged from a survey held by the University van Boston with more than 42 000 persons. The respondents were asked to state the age at which they first drank alcohol, and if they had ever been involved in a traffic accident. The results indicate that persons who begin to drink alcohol before the age of 14 are five times more likely to experience an alcohol-related traffic accident than persons who begin alcohol consumption at the age of 21. The relation still stands after exclusion of alcoholics from the research.
